This great bit measures 5 1/2 inches wide by about 8 inches long. The bit still has some, about 30% of the plating left on the horses. Called the"Rearing Horse" and pictured on page 96 of the 1897"Main and Winchester Catalog" At that time it sold for about $1.25 and the maker is unknown. Prices listed are for guns made prior to 1964 or with serial numbers below 1968307. This reintroduced Model 12 was dropped in 1980. In 1972, Winchester resurrected Model 12 in its regular production line in 12-gauge only, with ventilated rib. Dropped from regular product line in 1963, but a special model was produced in the Custom Shop until 1979.
